Medical Uses

Tepezza is an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor inhibitor used for the treatment of Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) also known as Graves’ Orbitopathy.

Recommended Dosage: The recommended dose of Tepezza is an intravenous infusion of 10 mg per kg for the initial dose followed by an intravenous infusion of 20 mg per kg every 3 weeks for 7 additional infusions. Do not administer tepezza injection as an intravenous push or bolus. It should not be infused concomitantly with other agents.

Warning & Precautions

Teprotumumab may cause infusion reactions. In patients who experience an infusion reaction, consideration should be given to pre-medicating with an antipyretic, antihistamine, corticosteroid or administering all subsequent infusions at a reduced infusion rate.
The teprotumumab 500 mg treatment may cause an exacerbation of preexisting inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Monitor patients with inflammatory bowel disease for flare of disease. In case IBD exacerbation is suspected, dosage can be discontinued.
Increased blood glucose or Hyperglycemia may occur in patients treated with Teprotumumab. Monitor patients for elevated blood glucose and signs/symptoms of hyperglycemia during therapy with Teprotumumab.
Patients with pre-existing diabetes should be under appropriate glycemic control prior to receiving treatment tepezza 500 mg injection.
Mechanisms of action of inhibiting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) suggest that tepezza may cause fetal harm if administered to a pregnant woman. Females should inform their health specialist about a known or suspected pregnancy.
